Horse Serum, Sterile Filtered, US Origin

GenDEPOT obtains donor horse serum from closed herds that are carefully controlled and inspected by veterinarians. Horses are regularly tested for equine infectious anemia using Coggins tests. Horse serum is a cost-effective alternative to fetal bovine serum (FBS) and can be used as cell culture medium in a variety of settings. As with all GenDEPOT sera, we carefully monitor donor horse serum material collection and processing to ensure that the end product is consistently high quality.

Before collection, the donor horses are given a controlled diet designed to deliver the ideal nutrients. The horses are also fasted before collection to ensure lower lipid levels. Bleeding occurs in an environment specifically designed for clean collection. Part of our process includes measuring physiochemical constituents to ensure lot to lot consistency. All lots of our Horse serum are 0.2µm sterile filtered and feature low hemoglobin levels. In addition to standard donor horse serum, we offer additional treatment options, including heat inactivation, gamma irradiation, or specialty filtration.
