Astor Eagleˇs Minimum Essential Medium (EMEM) with 1.0 mM Sodium pyruvate

$18.00

.Product Overview:

The lowest price of the similar medium on the market.

Eagle’s Minimum Essential Medium (EMEM) is a basal cell culture medium formulated to provide essential nutrients required for mammalian cell growth and maintenance in vitro. It’s a widely used synthetic medium derived from Harry Eagle’s original formulation, originally designed to culture fibroblasts and other cell lines.

L-Alanyl-L-Glutamine to reduce Glutamine degradation for storage.

[+]5.56 mM D-glucose

[+]2.0 mM L-Alanyl-L-Glutamine

[+]1.5 g/L NaHCO3

[+] 1.0 mM Sodium pyruvate

Key Features:

  1. Balanced formulation of essential amino acids, vitamins, salts, and glucose to support cell metabolism and proliferation.

  2. Contains Earle’s Balanced Salt Solution, L-glutamine, and sodium pyruvate.

  3. Includes phenol red as a pH indicator to visually monitor culture conditions.

  4. Typically supplemented with serum (e.g., 5–10% FBS) for complete culture.

  5. Designed for use in incubators with 5% CO₂ atmosphere for proper buffering.

Applications:
Ideal for general mammalian cell culture, especially adherent cell lines such as fibroblasts, HEK293, HeLa, and more. EMEM serves as a base medium that, when supplemented (e.g., serum, antibiotics), supports a wide range of research applications in cell biology, oncology, toxicology, and bioproduction.
