Applications

Glucose transport inhibitor

Functions

A potent competitive inhibitor of the cellular transport of glucose and glucose-mediated insulin release. May be used to induce a state of glucose deprivation in laboratory animals. Stimulates feeding in rat models. Induces Alzheimer-like changes in frontal cortex and hippocampus in rats. Elevates renal TGF-b1 at a dose that does not prevent streptozotocin diabetes in rats.

Application Procedures

First dissolved in Water (up to 15 mg/ml), then diluted to aqueous buffer. Solutions in water may be stored at -20°C for up to 2 months.
